Criminal Justice

  • Criminal Justice Reform: Fairness, Safety & Second Chances
    • Our justice system should be about rehabilitation, not just punishment. But for too long, racial disparities, harsh sentencing, and a lack of support for reentry have trapped too many people, especially people of color in a cycle of incarceration. As your next State Senator, I will fight for a fairer, smarter, and more effective criminal justice system. A justice system that is fair, effective, and focused on rehabilitation makes our communities safer and stronger. I will fight for laws that reduce incarceration, promote second chances, and ensure equal justice for all, Because Justice Should Work for Everyone!
  • A Justice System That Works for Everyone
    • End the School-to-Prison Pipeline – Invest in mentorship, job training, and mental health services to support students instead of pushing them into the criminal justice system.
    • Rehabilitation Over Incarceration – Expand substance abuse and mental health treatment programs so addiction is treated as a public health issue, not a crime.
    • Address Racial Disparities in Sentencing & Policing – Ensure equal justice for all by ending biased sentencing practices, improving police training, and strengthening oversight.
  • Smart Reforms That Save Lives & Taxpayer Dollars
    • Raise the Age – Minors should not be tried as adults. Let’s give kids a chance at rehabilitation, not a lifetime record.
    • Restore “Good Time” Credit – Incentivize good behavior in prison and allow incarcerated individuals to earn credit toward their release.
    • Invest in Reentry Programs – Provide housing, job training, and state IDs to returning citizens so they can successfully reintegrate into society.
    • Improve Police Training & Accountability – Require cultural competency, de-escalation techniques, and mental health crisis response training for all law enforcement.
